So, has anyone else noticed other than me that in Genesis 25:28,”Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for wild game,, but Rachel lived Jacob.”This is where favoritism became the dividing factor in both Isaac and Jacob’s families? To me, it’s like a generational curse. It causes division in Isaac’s family(Jacob and Esau are split and go their separate ways due to the deception of Jacob for the blessing of his father) and then later when Jacob marries both Rachel and Leah, he favored Rachel and her sons more than Leah’s. In fact, as we know in our women’s Bible study “Finding God Faithful,” Joseph was hated and envied by his older brothers because of the favoritism their father showed him but also because of his dreams , which would later prove to be a blessing. It just shows that favoritism can be teetering into idol worship where the parents are basically idolizing their children. Very dangerous territory in God’s eyes.

Also to add: Because of the favoritism, Joseph’s brothers sold him to Egypt. Thankfully, Joseph took it in the perspective that Hod lead him there and forgave his brothers! Also, the favoritism ended with Joseph!☺️
